To a healthy 2007!
My paternal grandmother, Martha Fest, used to say: “Alle Wuensche werden klein gegen den gesund zu sein.” That’s German and, very literally translated, it means: “All wishes become small against the one to be healthy.” (In German it rhymes.) So, may you
stay healthy (or become healthy again) in 2007, and have a wonderful and happy New Year!
PS: Here’s a photo of the plaque my grandmother had hanging on her kitchen wall.

The best to you, Marc. I don’t get a chance to be with you very often but, sheesh, so many years have slipped away. I suppose we’re the survivors, eh what? Are you and David still entwined? I’ve rented a home on Julia beginning Feb. 1. Come by when you’re in Cayo Hueso! The best, J.

Dear Mark, Thank you for thinking of me at the start of the year and for sharing your grandmother’s rhyme. The holidays bring great reflection on those we loved or have loved and I appreciate how you made me reflect on my own grandmother with such a short phrase. All the best! Chad

Marc, your grandma was right. Health comes first.
Then peace of mind. After that, it is all “dessert”.
